Girls basketball roundup: Kennedy Bockert with 36 points, 28 rebounds as Woodland beats Ridgefield

Kennedy Bockert had a monster game 36 points and 28 rebounds, helping Woodland pull away late for a 61-45 win over Ridgefield in a 2A Greater St. Helens League girls basketball game on Wednesday.

Bockert scored all 14 of the Beavers’ first-quarter points as Woodland took a 14-7.

The sophomore added 15 more points in the fourth quarter as the Beavers blew open 39-32 lead after three quarters.

Makynzie Guthrie scored 10 points and Addi Stading had nine points and three for Woodland. Emma Barrow added nine rebounds and Carly Coltrin pulled down six boards.

Madison Ingram hit five second-half 3-pointers and finished with 23 points for Ridgefield.

R.A. LONG 46, HOCKINSON 33 — Alauna Brown had 13 points, five rebounds and five steals and Bri Garwood had 13 points and five steals as R.A. Long overcome a sluggish first half to pull away in the second.

“We played much better pressure defense in the second half to overcome a flat first half,” R.A. Long coach JD Ott said.

Sienna Dorland scored 10 points for R.A. Long.

Dannika Grant had 14 points and five rebounds, and Lyle Taylor had 10 points and eight rebounds for Hockinson. Sohpomore Halle Jardine added 13 points.

MARK MORRIS 85, HUDSON’S BAY 24 — Destiny Watson, Kea Makaiwi and Reese Johnston scored 11 points for the Monarchs, who jumped out to a 33-9 lead after one quarter.

Watson added seven rebounds, and Paisely Fraidenburg scored 10 points. Shianne Kasinger led Bay with 10 points.

COLUMBIA RIVER 42, WASHOUGAL 31 — Peyton Dukes scored 10 points and Gracie Glavin had eight of her 10 points in the fourth quarter as River held on for a 2A GSHL win.

Jenna Klopman scored 14 points for Washougal and played every minute of the game along with Addi Gibbons as the Panthers continue to battle injuries and illness.

STEVENSON 52, HORIZON CHRISTIAN (Ore.) 28 — Dani Wallace scored 18 points and Aria Obias added 16 as the Bulldogs notched their first win of the season.
