Camas gymnast Madi Williams is The Columbian 2022-23 Week 17 prep athlete of the week

Williams edges out Ridgefield swimmer Lincoln Swift by just three votes

Camas gymnast Madi Williams is the The Columbian 2022-23 Week 17 high school athlete of the week.

Williams received 559 of the 1,706 votes cast this week to edge out Ridgefield swimmer Lincoln Swift by just three votes.

Williams won the all-around with a score of 36.65 and the vault (9.15) in a meet with Kamiakin and Union.

Winners of the athlete-of-the-week may not be nominated again during the regular season, and no athlete may be nominated in consecutive weeks.

Nominees are posted and voting begins on Monday and runs through Wednesday each week.

Here are the accomplishments of the other nominees:

DEMAREE COLLINS, SKYVIEW BOYS BASKETBALL: Collins scored 30 points, with seven 3-pointers, and then 26 points in two victories for the Storm.

BROOKLYNN HAYWOOD, UNION GIRLS BASKETBALL: Haywood had 30 points and seven rebounds, 27 points and seven rebounds and then a school-record 50 points in three wins for the Titans.

LINCOLN SWIFT, RIDGEFIELD BOYS SWIMMING: Swift won the 500 freestyle and placed fifth in the 200 individual medley at the Southwest Washington Invitational.

KIERRA WILCOX, EVERGREEN GIRLS BOWLING: Wilcox bowled a 629 series, including a 269 game, to win the 3A district title by 75 pins and lead Evergreen to the team title.
