I was intimidated whenever a pickup waving U.S. flags pulled up next to me. I believe he, always a white man, has a gun. I believe he is a racist and a Trump supporter. Now, I shake my head in disgust.
I am a proud, patriotic, white Vietnam veteran. I am humbled knowing we lost 50,000 U.S. soldiers and that we killed over a million Vietnamese and Chinese, many of them civilians. I am also humbled knowing the white man stole this country from the Native American, enslaved the African American, and exploited Asian and Hispanic people to build and feed this country.
A few decades ago, people questioned how white people would react to eventually becoming minority status. Seems not too well. White people currently own 86 percent of American wealth and make up 79 percent of elected officials. A little humility, white guy.
