Tobias Merriweather is Notre Dame official.
The highly touted Union High School receiver made his commitment to the Fighting Irish on Wednesday morning, signing his national letter of intent.
It was the first day of the NCAA Division I early signing period for football.
Just two weeks ago, then-Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly and three assistant coaches were in Vancouver visiting Merriweather and his family for an in-home visit Nov. 29 — shortly before the news broke of Kelly’s departure to LSU.
Last Monday, newly elevated head coach Marcus Freeman and other assistants made a return trip to Vancouver to visit Merriweather just hours after Freeman was introduced at a press conference as the program’s 30th head coach.
