Letter: Verdict lacks common sense

My uncle crossed the state line into Wisconsin on a joyride. The stolen car was never damaged.

Kyle Rittenhouse crossed the state line into Wisconsin as a vigilante with a semi-automatic rifle. He shot and killed the first unarmed threat with four rounds. He shot and killed the next person who carried a pistol. Then, Kyle shot and maimed a third.

My uncle served several years in prison. Kyle is feted by Republican leaders and certain media outlets.

In both cases, the letter of the law was served. What of common sense? And, what might this portend?
