Letter: Thankful for Herrera Beutler

By Jina Darnell, Vancouver

I am writing to express my deep appreciation for Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler, who continues to be a peacemaker during this time of divisiveness and partisanship. I am sickened by the anger and hatred displayed through letters to the editor in this paper and on television during the impeachment hearings, and I am so thankful that Jaime remains a cool-headed and bipartisan voice in Congress. In the middle of an angry and divisive political storm, she is calm and rational.

Our country is in desperate need of more leaders like Jaime, who refuses to lower herself to the petty partisan attacks thrown her way. Instead, she focuses on issues that actually help residents in Southwest Washington, like lowering the cost of prescription drugs, child care, and housing. Keep up the good work, Jaime!

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
