Letter: Dr. Biden earns her title

By Philip S. Parker, Vancouver

Dr. Jill Biden has an Ed.D. from the University of Delaware. I have a B.A. in English education from CWU, Ellensburg. I respect anyone that has gone through the effort to get a doctorate in any field. Dr. Biden has earned the right to be addressed as “doctor.”

Attacking her for using a title she is entitled to is really petty. But then, petty politics is what we have been subjected to for the last four years. It’s time we addressed more important issues than titles, like COVID-19 and immigration.

Having a first lady that is practicing her own profession seems appropriate in the modern world. I expect her English classes at NOVA Community College in Virginia are interesting, too.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
