The Chieftains rode a stellar defensive performance and a hot-shooting first half to a 2A Greater St. Helens League win at home.

Caden Dezort hit three 3-pointers in the first quarter, then Nate Snook scored 11 of his 17 points in the second quarter as Columbia River built a 33-16 halftime lead.

Jack Armstong held Woodland’s leading scorer Alex Bishop to 12 points, below his average of 18.2 points per game.

“He hurt us last year,” Columbia River coach David Long said of Bishop. “We put Armstrong on him. Jack makes life pretty miserable for a lot of kids out there.”
