In concert with Housing and Homelessness Advocacy Day, Council for the Homeless is hosting Advocacy 101 workshops. The first workshop takes place 5:30 to 7 p.m. Jan. 15 in the community room at Vancouver Housing Authority, 2500 Main St.

Those who attend will learn about the housing and homelessness legislative priorities, tips for interacting with elected officials and information about the Feb. 28 advocacy day in Olympia.

Advocates are focusing the 2019 session on preventing homelessness by reducing evictions, expanding rental support for adults with disabilities, and building and preserving affordable homes.

Additional workshops are planned for Feb. 7, March 28 and April 25 — each at the same time and location as the first workshop.

Visit www.councilforthehomeless.org/advocacy/ for more information.

Later in the year, Council for the Homeless plans to hold workshops on the causes and solutions to homelessness.
