Until 2016 I considered myself a Republican. Now I consider the GOP petty, vindictive and corrupt. Jay Ambrose criticizes Pelosi for ad hominem attacks and taking $1,000 from VISA (“As speaker, Nancy Pelosi is no Sam Rayburn,” Nov. 21), while Trump is the biggest proponent of the ad hominem attack in all politics, just watch TV. Trump’s campaign accepted $325,000 from Lev Parnass, $1 million from Gordon Sondland for an ambassadorship.
Ambrose goes on to point out that Pelosi’s worth is estimated at $29 million. Trump claims to be among the wealthiest. $29 million is “chump change.”
I find it odd that Nancy Pelosi gets nearly two-fifths a page of criticism on a day when the big story is Trump’s efforts to strong-arm the Ukraine.
I am old enough to remember when any suggestion that you might be a “sympathizer” would get you hauled before Sen. Joseph McCarthy. Have we forgotten that Putin was KGB? What about Scripal, Crimea, Kurdish ISIS allies? If McCarthy were alive, Trump, Nunes and Giuliani would certainly be considered “sympathizers.”
Trump may not get convicted or impeached. Republicans might keep in mind precedent. The next administration may use this same method against them … oh, wait! Trump already is!
