Letter: Trump earns evangelical support

After reading “Wake up, Evangelicals,” I had to respond (Our Readers’ Views, Nov. 17). First off, most “evangelicals” have compared Trump to an Old Testament king by the name of Jehu (not Cyrus, King of Persia). Mighty big difference. In 2 Kings Chapter 9, Jehu is legally appointed, and anointed king (elected as Trump), and reigned for 28 years over northern Israel. He was known as a slightly “wild man” and rough around the edges (like Trump) but, he exterminated the house of Ahab and Jezebel, the “swamp” of those days. He restored law and order.

Over two dozen churches of several different denominations were represented at the Clark County Prayer Breakfast. I have never seen any of them “chest thumping,” and I have attended this excellent event for the past 12 years. I applaud Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, along with many other leaders, for coming together to pray for and support our local business owners, police chiefs, fire chiefs, mayors, military commanders, and all others in positions of leadership.

Some in the church have “gone to sleep” while most of us other “evangelicals” are wide awake, and that’s why we support Donald J. Trump. MAGA, go Trump, drain the swamp and restore law and order.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
