YWCA Clark County is launching a new program, the Women’s Leadership Center, that’s designed to empower women. “Modeled after successful leadership centers around the world, the Women’s Leadership Center will empower women of all ages to realize and harness their innate leadership abilities, pursue their highest ambitions, and have their voices amplified,” the nonprofit said in a news release.

YWCA pointed out that an unprecedented number of women across the country ran for office last year and many more are preparing to run for office this year. Although this development is encouraging, YWCA wants to see more progress made in achieving party in leadership positions.

“Women make up slightly more than half the population, and account for 47 percent of the US labor force, yet make up only 20 percent of Congress, 27 percent of college presidents, 22 percent of partners in law firms, 11 percent of executive positions in silicon valley, 6 percent of partners in venture capital firms, and 2 percent of CEOs in the financial services industry,” the news release said.

Women can sign up for leadership workshops at https://ywcaclarkcounty.org/wlc. Upcoming workshops include:

• Image to Income: Creating an Authentic, Profitable and Confident Image; 12 to 1 p.m., Feb. 20; $15.

• Finding Our Gold: A Connection Circle for Women Over 50; 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays, Feb. 28 through April 18; $80 to $120 for the eight-week series.

• Empowering Women in the Workplace: Negotiating Salary and Empowering Yourself; 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., March 6; $25.
