• The city of Vancouver seeks volunteers, 16 and older, to help with the annual Father/Daughter Valentine Ball on Feb. 2 and 3.
• The city of Vancouver’s 50-plus Travel Program seeks volunteers to plan and lead two trips per month, on weekdays and weekends. Drivers are also needed and must be willing to be trained in first aid/CPR and blood-borne pathogens, have a clean five-year driving record and be able to drive a 15-passenger van, after training. Volunteers also attend monthly meetings.
• Columbia Springs seeks volunteer leads and docents to lead tours and stewardship events. Training begins in February. Information is available at www.columbiasprings.org/volunteer.
• Fish of Vancouver, Fish of Orchards, North County Food Bank and Salvation Army all seek volunteer help in the office, unloading trucks, and packing food boxes.
• YWCA is recruiting volunteers for the Sexual Assault Program. Volunteers receive comprehensive training to provide emotional support and advocacy to victims. Volunteers are also needed in the Safe Choice Domestic Violence program that advocates for, educates, and supports those affected by domestic violence.
Clark County Food Bank depends on volunteers to help feed hungry Clark County residents. To help, call 360-693-0939 or email volunteer@clarkcountyfoodbank.org. The greatest needs are for:
• Food collectors. Drive or ride in a 20-foot box truck to Clark County grocery stores, 7:15 to 10:30 or 11 a.m. weekdays, filling out donation slips and lifting 40- to 50-pound boxes. A commercial driver’s license is not required. A commitment of two shifts monthly is requested.
• Food sorters. Sorters wear closed-toed shoes, for safety, and layered clothing, as the work is done in a refrigerated room, 10 a.m. to noon or 1 p.m. weekdays. A commitment of one shift weekly is requested.
• Receptionists. Shifts are 8 a.m. to noon, or noon to 4 p.m. Receptionists handle phones and messages, file, enter data on the computer, greet visitors and do light cleaning. A commitment of one shift weekly for six months is requested.
Clark County Parks seeks volunteer help with two projects at Lacamas Lake Regional Park in conjunction with Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
• Trail maintenance. On Jan. 13, volunteers will team up with the Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance. Meet at 9 a.m. in the parking lot at Woodburn Elementary School, 2400 N.E. Woodburn Drive, Camas.
• Non-native plant removal. On Jan. 15, volunteers will partner with Clark County Parks to remove non-native Scotch broom and English ivy. Meet at 9 a.m. in the Lacamas Lake Regional Park overflow parking lot at 406 N.E. 35th Ave., Camas.
