Ridgefield City Hall has been added to the Clark County Heritage Register.
The building, 230 Pioneer St., was built in 1920, and is one of the oldest remaining structures in Ridgefield’s traditional downtown core. It was put on the register by the Clark County Historic Preservation Commission.
Ridgefield City Hall was originally used as a bank, and was historically known as the Ridgefield State Bank. The vault is still located in the building, which has been used as City Hall since 1975.
According to a release from the commission, “the building is a rare example of formal Classical Revival architecture in Ridgefield. In the state of Washington, the building is one of the few remaining smaller banks of the era, and it has a high level of historic integrity.”
