Letter: Trump will dismantle environment

By Michael Burton, VANCOUVER
Published: January 29, 2017, 6:00am

America is great partly because we care for our environment: the open spaces, beaches, forests, rivers and streams.

President Trump is a city-born and raised-pavement pusher who never saw an open space, beach, forest, river or stream that he didn’t want to spoil for profit.

The appointments of former Sen. Don Benton and Sen. Doug Ericksen, R-Ferndale, to lead the “landing team” at the EPA gives the state of Washington the unfortunate distinction of having two people who will not only begin the dismantling of the agency, but of the environment itself.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
