Letter: Streep performance is lugubrious

After watching the Golden Globe awards program, I submit to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences a new award for the following category:

“Best lugubrious performance in a hypocritical diatribe.” Meryl Streep’s performance while accepting a lifetime achievement honorific should be the standard for which future awards in this category are judged.
