Letter: Should be seen, not heard

Concerning fireworks, I fear we have gone far astray from what a celebratory occasion really means. I am specifically talking about the “concussion bombs” that have infiltrated what used to be visual displays of celebration. War veterans, domestic animals, people with medical conditions, and many other neighbors are offended or stressed by such activity. Could we all stick to the “visual” fireworks and skip the obnoxious noise generators and people/animal torture bombs?

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
