Letter: Trump should buy Mexico

By Lillian Christina, VANCOUVER
Published: January 2, 2017, 6:00am

Donald Trump will be sworn in as president this month. I suggest he and his billionaire cronies begin by pooling their money to purchase Mexico. Buying Mexico will solve the problem of the fence — no more illegals. Build luxury hotels to support tourism, and China can supply the merchandise and steel for the buildings, a long-term investment! All Mexicans would become legal residents, United States citizens, and could work in low-paying jobs and pay taxes like the rest of us.

Congress will have to work with “the king” on pressing problems. Our representatives are supposed to speak for us to insure that we have a voice. Will they do their job? I predict here will be unprecedented turmoil as issues are debated and tax money is allotted to programs.

Hopefully, Trump will not be able to bully Congress and will learn to compromise, or abdicate.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
