One day after beating one of Idaho’s top teams, the Chieftains improved to 2-0 at the Lake City Tournament in Idaho.

Jacob Hjort scored 16 points and Jack Armstrong added 11 against a physical opponent.

“Several of their football players are on the team and it showed,” Chieftains coach David Long said. “We got a lot out of this game. They had two or three good shooters. The rest were tough, physical athletes who defend really well. We hadn’t played a team like that.”

Columbia River (7-2) beat Post Falls in the opener. The Chieftains conclude tournament play against Lake City on Friday at 11 a.m.
