Letter: Help homeless with donations

By Haley Johnson, VANCOUVER

I need to discuss a very important topic, a problem that we can actually help with. According to The Columbian, there are about 500,000 people who are homeless in the United States of America, and 20,827 homeless people in Washington were counted last year.

I care a lot about this issue. One thing we can do is provide food for some who might need it in our area. We all have the option to help them in little ways, but we choose not to without thinking of how it feels or thinking of being in their situation. More people should care about this problem, so that is why I have chosen to take action.

I would like to ask if our next local food drive may be donated toward helping the homeless. I really want to make my thoughts a reality, because many homeless people would really appreciate our help. Please, people can use your help and donations.
