Save the Date: Entertainment hits high note at Clark

Catch the grand finale of the 54th annual Clark College Jazz Festival today, as one ensemble wins the Dale Beacock Memorial Sweepstakes Award. High school jazz ensembles in AAA and AAAA divisions will perform from 7:40 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a performance by the Clark College Jazz Ensemble at 12:20 p.m. followed by the American Music Program, led by Thara Memory, at 5:40 p.m. Finals competition will begin at 7 p.m., with trophies and titles presented at the end. It all takes place at Clark College, 1933 Fort Vancouver Way, Vancouver. Keep the young music going with the Vancouver Symphony Young Artists Competition at 1 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 309 W. 39th St., Vancouver. The 22nd annual competition features young musicians vying for scholarships and the opportunity to perform winning pieces with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra in April. Love Street Playhouse will open its production of “The Odd Couple” on Feb. 5 with a one-night dinner performance. With an “Old Ball Game” dinner theme, the evening performance is limited to 30 seats, starting at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 5. Dinner tickets are $45. The Vancouver Eagles will host a Valentine-themed night of dinner and dancing with a “Sweethearts Serenade.” There will be a social hour with a solo performance by Tom Grant, followed by dinner, then dancing with the Tom Grant Band featuring singer Shelly Rudolph from 5 to 10 p.m. Feb. 13 at the Vancouver Eagles, 107 E. The Southwest Washington Winery Association will be hosting a Wine and Chocolate tasting weekend from noon to 5 p.m. Feb. 13 and 14. Each participating winery will offer different chocolate pairings with their local wine during this self-guided tour. Run through rural neighborhoods and along the Salmon Creek Trail during the Hazel Dell Half Marathon and 8K on Feb. 20, with all participants receiving a finisher medal. The race kicks off from Max Muscle Sports Nutrition, 9301 N.E. Fifth Ave., Vancouver. Registration is $70 for half, $50 for 8K, $18 for ages 18 and younger.
