Law enforcement searched for a driver who fled the scene of a traffic stop Monday night, but wasn’t able to find him.

Troopers pulled over a Dodge Ram pickup traveling south on Interstate 205 at about 10 p.m. The truck took the Southeast Mill Plain Boulevard exit and stopped at the Wal-Mart at 221 N.E. 104th Ave., Washington State Patrol Trooper Will Finn said.

The vehicle had two different sets of plates, both of which were stolen, Finn said.

The driver, a bald white man, fled the scene, running south across Mill Plain Boulevard, Finn said. A female passenger remained on scene and cooperated with investigators, Finn said.

Vancouver police officers responded with a police K-9 to help troopers search the area for the driver, but they were not successful.

Anyone who was in the area and saw a man matching the driver’s description is asked to call the state patrol’s nonemergency number, 360-449-7999.
