Olympia – Two Vancouver businesses took home top honors from the Association of Washington Business, the organization announced Thursday.
International Air and Hospitality Academy, at 2901 E. Mill Plain Blvd., won the Advance Award, given to companies that focus on particular sectors and manage to impact their community’s economy.
The organization said International Air Academy was recognized “for providing high-quality training at low cost to help students from all socioeconomic groups find satisfying, good-paying careers” in the hospitality, culinary, railroad and renewable energy industries.
Banfield Pet Hospital garnered an award for its environmental practices. The veterinary care company, which relocated its headquarters to Vancouver this year, moved into an “ultra-green building” that uses half the electricity of similar-sized buildings.
Twenty Washington employers were honored at Wednesday’s event. Richland’s Energy Northwest was named Employer of the Year.
