Sportsmen’s Show opens Wednesday at Expo Center

PORTLAND — Hundreds of exhibits of fishing and hunting gear, camping equipment, sport-fishing boats and recreational vehicles will be on display beginning Wednesday at the 40th annual Pacific Northwest Sportsmen’s Show.

The five-day event at Portland Expo Center costs $12 for adults and $5 for juniors ages 6 to 16. A two-day pass costs $18. A $1 fee is charged for credit card transactions.

Show hours will be 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 5 and Feb. 6, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Feb. 7 and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Feb. 8.

The show also will feature a free trout-fishing pond for youth, a “head and horns” trophy scoring competition, a tent demonstrating camp cooking and dozens of hunting and fishing seminars.

Among the seminar speakers will be Jim Teeny on flyfishing, Troutdale guides Jack and Brandon Glass on spring chinook fishing, Jeremy Jahn on kokanee fishing, Steve Leonard on fishing with plugs, Ed Iman on walleye, Buzz Ramsey of Klickitat on spring chinook, Eric Linde on spring chinook, Scott Haugen on trophy blacktail deer, Glenn Berry on elk hunting, Sam Kolb on introducing children to hunting and Peter Kummerfeldt on survival skills.
