When it comes to city street lights, the city of Vancouver has got to be the worst. The lights in my area are so dim that you cannot see people walking or animals until you’re right on them. There have been times when I called 911 to report prowlers in the area, they asked me what do they look like or what are they wearing? I tell them I can’t see them that well because the street lights are too dim.
I have complained to the city, but only to get a lame story about how many people complained about the glare in their eyes. If this is so I want a copy of that list, otherwise it is hearsay.
I have almost hit someone on my street because I could not see them dart out. I feel this is why we read about pedestrians being hit on our public streets: The drivers just cannot see them.
Dear public, if you read this, please tell your story, too, because our safety is important with better lighting. I would like the Vancouver City Council to look into this matter.
