The driver who died Wednesday after her car car plunged into the Columbia River has been identified as a Portland resident.
The Multnomah County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the woman as Melissa Parke, 46.
She was driving on Northeast Marine Drive in Portland at about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday when her vehicle left the roadway and plunged into the river near the east end of the Portland International Airport, according to authorities. Rescue boats were used to recover the vehicle and her body.
Officials were not ready to report the cause of her death.
