Letter: Less than a year to narrow the field

I understand the frustration the Republicans are experiencing. They have not seen Obamacare or the immigration initiatives eliminated, nor have they seen the nation’s infrastructure of roads, bridges and many other projects improved as promised. Virtually every bill or proposed appointment has been stymied by the Republican-led Congress for the past seven years, so little has changed.

This frustration has brought rank-and-file Republicans to distrust their elected officials, so they are now trumpeting the concept of “Presidential Vacancy — No Experience Necessary.” However, I think we need a president who will hit the ground running, not one who will be wasting time coming up to speed in dealing with the complexities of running the most powerful and complex country in the world. So, who does that leave?

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
