Columbia tops Cornell 74-58 with late run

ITHACA, N.Y. (AP) — Maodo Lo scored 20 points and Cory Osetkowski had 19 and Columbia closed the game with a 25-7 run to defeat Cornell 74-58 on Saturday.

That gave the Lions (13-6, 2-0 Ivy League) a sweep of their travel partners to open league play. A week earlier Columbia used a 16-4 run in the second half to beat the Big Red (1-15, 0-2) 71-61.

Lo and Osetkowski combined to hit 16 of 23 shots. Alex Rosenberg made 11 of 12 free throws for 17 points and Grant Mullins made 8 of 8 for 12 points.

Devin Cherry topped Cornell with 12 points, Robert Hatter and Nenad Tomic split 22.

The Big Red went up 51-49 midway through the second half before Columbia ripped off eight-straight points, four by Lo. After a Cornell bucket, the Lions scored nine straight, four by Rosenberg.

Columbia went 10 for 10 from the line in the last 1:12.
