Savannah State defeats Florida A&M 79-68

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — Deven Williams scored 20 points as Savannah State held on to defeat Florida A&M 79-68 Monday night.

Joshua Montgomery had 17 points, Terel Hall added 13 and Jyles Smith had six points and 11 rebounds for Savannah State (7-12, 5-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference).

Savannah State held a 45-33 halftime lead, but the Rattlers tied the game at 51 at the 12:18 mark following three free throws by Jamie Adams. Savanah State increased its lead to 60-55, but Adams made two more free throws to close within three with 6:49 remaining. The Tigers answered with Smith making a layup, Williams hitting a jumper and Khiry White a layup to push the lead to 68-59.

Trey Kellum led Florida A&M (7-12, 2-3) with 18 points. Reggie Lewis, Jamie Adams and Jamari Bradshaw added 13 each.
