Mercer cruises to a 87-66 win over Lipscomb

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Bud Thomas scored 31 points, including a school record nine 3-pointers, to lead Mercer to an easy 87-66 win over Lipscomb on Saturday.

Mercer (15-5, 6-1 Atlantic Sun) got 19 from Anthony White, Jr., while Daniel Coursey had 14 points and 12 rebounds, Jakob Gollon scored nine and gathered 12 boards, and Langston Hall had 10 assists. The Bears shot 56 percent from the floor, including 13 of 25 from beyond the arc.

Lipscomb (7-12, 2-6) was led by Khion Sankey with 19 points and eight boards. J.C. Hampton added 16 points while Carter Sanderson and Malcolm Smith both had 10. The Bisons shot 34.5 percent.

Mercer made five of its first seven shots and scored the first 12 points of the game. They never trailed as they built a 46-27 lead at the intermission.

Lipscomb scored 39 points after the break, but couldn’t cut into the lead.
