Louisiana-Monroe defeats South Alabama 64-58

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — Tylor Ongwae scored 19 points and Amoz Olatayo added 12 as Louisiana-Monroe defeated South Alabama 64-58 on Saturday night.

The Warhawks (6-7, 3-2 Sun Belt) shot 42 percent from the field, with Nick Coppola and Daniel Grieves chipping in 10 points apiece.

South Alabama (7-12, 1-5) was held to 32.3 percent shooting and went just 4 of 27 from beyond the arc. Augustine Rubit led the Jaguars with 18 points and 12 rebounds.

The Jaguars jumped out to a 20-11 lead in the first half and held a seven-point lead at halftime. ULM opened the second half with a quick 7-0 run to tie the score and pushed toward a 60-53 lead after an Ongwae dunk and a Coppola 3-pointer with 2:18 remaining.

South Alabama cut the deficit to three after an Antoine Allen 3-pointer, but Amos Olatayo responded with three free throws to ice the game.
