Hawaii races past UC Riverside in100-69 rout

HONOLULU (AP) — Christian Standhardinger scored 27 points as Hawaii tuned its Big West Conference home opener into a rout, racing past California Riverside 100-69 Saturday night

The Rainbow Warriors raced to a 15-1 lead in the opening minutes. Standhardinger and Brandon Spearman each scored 15 first-half points as Hawaii built a 56-30 halftime advantage.

Hawaii (12-5, 1-2 Big West) got 18 points from Spearman, 16 from Isaac Fotu and 12 from Garrett Nevels. Hawaii shot 34 of 69 from the field and held a 42-28 advantage on the boards.

The Warriors now are 10-2 at home, winning eight of their last nine home games, and snapped a five-game conference losing streak.

Sam Finley scored 19 points to lead UC Riverside (5-12, 0-3). Austin Quick added 15 points and Chris Patton 11. The Highlanders were 20 of 51 from the field (39.2 percent) and were just 3 of 17 from 3-point range.
