Hunter carries Georgia St. past S. Alabama 73-63

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — R.J. Hunter scored 30 points to lead Georgia State to a 73-63 win over South Alabama on Saturday for its sixth-straight win.

Manny Atkins and Devonta White added 14 points apiece for the Panthers (9-6, 2-0 Sun Belt Conference). Hunter, who had five 3-pointers, hit all 13 of his free throws as Georgia State was 24 of 26 from the foul line. That helped off-set a four-point game for Ryan Harrow, who was averaging 20.2 points.

Ken Williams had 19 points and Augustine Rubit had 11 points and 14 rebounds for the Jaguars (6-9, 0-2).

South Alabama had a 25-23 lead but White answered with a 3 and Hunter made two free throws and a 3-pointer to put Georgia State up for good. It was 39-36 at halftime. Atkins had four points and Curtis Washington a three-point play to open the second half.
