SEATTLE — The National Weather Service says a weekend storm could dump more than a foot of snow in the Cascades, and as much as 30 inches in some areas.

A winter storm watch says the storm is forecast to begin Friday night and continue through Saturday night.

The Seattle Times reported the heaviest snow is expected at Mount Baker and Mount Rainier. Forecasters say lighter snow may also fall on Sunday and colder weather is expected next week in the Puget Sound area, with low temperatures dropping into the 20s on Monday and Tuesday.
