Veterans should never be victims of Capitol Hill inaction or government shutdowns. One bill can guarantee veterans their benefits no matter what but Congress must act by year end. All veterans, and anyone who is concerned in regards to this problem, please contact your elected officials now to bring this to a vote.
Currently, the budget for the Department of Veterans Affairs programs and benefits is being held in limbo and is set to run out, with budget funding expiring on Dec. 11. This is the 23rd time in the last 26 years that the Veterans Affairs full budget is late. Enough is enough.
We need your help to make sure that the Senate holds that vote, and that the legislators pass it. Our politicians that we voted into office should be a part of the solution, not a part of the problem. Too many of our politicians are sitting on their hands over 500 days now without passing one single bill. These politicians have turned their elected position into a permanent job.
I believe in strong debates, but I also believe we need to at least hold an up or down vote in the House rather than not allowing any vote, period.
