Vancouver police arrested a man in a stolen vehicle after a short pursuit Saturday morning.

Officers with Vancouver Police Department spotted a stolen 1995 Subaru wagon in a parking lot on Fourth Plain Road near Whitman Avenue at about 11:45 a.m. Saturday, according to a Vancouver Police Department news release.

As an officer was getting out of his patrol car to approach the driver of the stolen vehicle, the driver accelerated and struck the police car, according to Vancouver police.

The driver fled the scene in the vehicle, and police pursued. The pursuit ended a few minutes later with the police using an immobilization technique to stop the driver on Andresen Road near state Highway 500, according to the news release.

Police arrested 29-year-old Nicholas J. Muros of Vancouver on charges of possession of a stolen motor vehicle, attempt to elude police and possession of a controlled substance.

Muros was taken to the Clark County Jail after receiving a medical check at a local hospital.

Nobody was injured during the incident. The police car sustained damage.

Southbound lanes of Andresen Road were closed briefly near Northeast 40th Street while police waited for the stolen vehicle to be removed from the scene.
