Camas — Julie Mueller will be the new principal of Lacamas Heights Elementary School. She currently serves as the associate principal of Liberty Middle School.

With a bachelor’s degree from George Fox University and master’s from City University, Mueller was one of five internal candidates interviewed for the position by a panel of teachers, support staff and administrators from the Camas School District.

The district made a decision to hire for the position internally after recognizing there was a great deal of districtwide interest in the position, officials said.

Mike Nerland, superintendent of the Camas School District, said he was confident Mueller would be able to motivate students and staff “to reach the highest potential.”

Earlier in her career, Mueller worked as a teacher at Lacamas Heights Elementary.

Mueller said she was excited to rejoin the Lacamas Heights Elementary community.
