A downed power line caused an outage affecting 22 customers Tuesday evening near Northwest Bratton Road and Northwest Pacific Highway in Woodland, Clark Public Utilities said.
The line snapped from a hit-and-run vehicle leaving the road and hitting a telephone pole, said Sgt. Linda Hayes with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident was originally reported as a grass fire at 7 p.m.
Emergency responders had to approach the line from Northwest Goose Hill Avenue because the hilly, curvy roads made the area difficult to access. The downed line was also blocking Bratton Road.
Clark Public Utilities workers expected to restore power to the area by 10 p.m. Tuesday while firefighters with the Woodland Fire Department assisted in diverting traffic.
The utility will file a hit-and-run claim for the damaged power pole, Hayes said.
