ATLANTA (AP) — Mike Bobinski, who has been in charge of Xavier’s athletic department for 12 years, has been named Georgia Tech’s athletic director.
Georgia Tech president Bud Peterson announced Wednesday Bobinski will be introduced at a news conference on the Georgia Tech campus on Friday and will begin his new job on April 1.
Bobinski was hired as athletic director at Xavier in 1998. In 2004, he was named associate vice president for development and was in charge of the university’s fundraising efforts. He returned as athletic director in 2006.
Dan Radakovich stepped down as Georgia Tech’s athletic director in October to head Clemson’s athletic department. Paul Griffin has served as Georgia Tech’s interim athletic director.
Bobinski is the current chair of the NCAA Division I men’s basketball committee.
