ORTING — The Washington State Patrol says a King County sheriff’s deputy was one of six people hurt in a Monday evening crash that involved three vehicles near the Pierce County town of Orting.

Trooper Guy Gill says the crash occurred on State Route 162.

The male deputy, the driver of a second car and four people from a minivan were taken to a nearby hospital. Gill says all are expected to survive.

The highway near the wreck was closed for several hours as police investigated.
