Princeton beats Pennsylvania 65-53 in Ivy opener

PRINCETON, N.J. (AP) — T.J. Bray scored 23 points to lead Princeton to a 65-53 victory over Pennsylvania in the Ivy League opener for both on Saturday.

Ian Hummer scored 13 points, Denton Koon 10, and Will Barrett contributed nine points and 10 rebounds for the Tigers (7-7).

The Tigers seniors became the first since the Class of 1992 to sweep four years from Penn at home. Princeton has won 18 consecutive Ivy League games at home, the most since it won 26 in a row from 1996-99.

Tony Hicks led the Quakers (2-13) with 16 points and six rebounds, and Darien Nelson-Henry scored 11.

Princeton, which was up 31-22 at the half, led 17-8 in points off turnovers and shot 49 percent from the field (25 of 51) to Penn’s 40.4 percent (21 of 52). The Tigers shot 50 percent (11 of 22) on 3-pointers to the Quakers’ 33.3 percent (5 of 15).
