Liberty beats Coastal Carolina 64-56, snaps skid

LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) — Tomasz Gielo was 4 of 4 from 3-point range en route to 19 points and pulled down six rebounds to help Liberty snap a two-game losing streak, beating Coastal Carolina 64-56 Saturday in a Big South Conference matchup.

John Caleb Sanders had 13 points and Tavares Speaks added 11 and four assists for Liberty (5-12, 1-2), which snapped Coastal Carolina’s three-game winning streak.

Kierre Greenwood led Coastal Carolina (7-7, 2-1) with 27 points but was the lone Chanticleer in double figures.

Liberty led 23-20 before closing the first half with five unanswered points. The Flames scored the first six points of the second half to pull away. Gielo capped the run with a 3-pointer and Liberty did not lead by fewer than six the rest of the way.

Liberty shot 47.6 percent (20 of 42) from the field, compared to 29.2 percent (19 of 65) for Coastal Carolina.
