Three people remain hospitalized at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center from injuries they suffered in a New Year’s Eve head-on collision.

Peter Swartz, 32, of Battle Ground was in satisfactory condition Wednesday. He was passenger in a car driven by his wife, Jennifer Swartz, 33, on Dec. 31. Their car, a 1999 Chevy Tahoe, was traveling north on state Highway 503 when a Nissan Pathfinder heading south crossed the center line and collided with the Tahoe, the Washington State Patrol said.

Jennifer Swartz was killed in the crash.

The Pathfinder’s driver, Katrina Tikka, 17, of Amboy and one of the vehicle’s passengers, Wendi Hallstrom, 17, of Yacolt also remain in the hospital. They both were listed in satisfactory condition Wednesday. Passenger Megan Tikka, 16, of Amboy was treated and released.

The family of Peter and Jennifer Swartz, who have three children, have set up a benefit fund at Riverview Community Bank for donations. The account is named “Susan Stevens for the Benefit of the Swartz Family.”
