HAMMOND, La. (AP) — Brandon Fortenberry paced Southeastern Louisiana with a season-high 23 points and a career-best five 3-pointers as the Lions beat Central Arkansas 72-68 Saturday for their first Southland Conference win this season.
Fortenberry hit 8 of 16 from the field, including half of his 10 3-point attempts, and Roosevelt Johnson had 16 points and 12 rebounds for his third double-double this year.
The Bears (5-7, 0-2), who are now 0-7 all time when playing at Southeastern Louisiana (3-9, 1-1), were led by Jordan Harks’ 17 points.
Robert Crawford led a late Central Arkansas charge, cutting a 66-59 deficit with a layup and a 3-pointer to make it 66-64 with 1:54 left. Twice, Johnson put the Lions back up by four, but both times, Harks answered with a jumper for the Bears.
After Harks’ final make, the Lions’ Jeffery Ricard and Dre Evans each hit one free throw for the final spread.
