PENDLETON, Ore. — A Hermiston cab driver has pleaded not guilty to charges of rape and sex abuse.

The East Oregonian newspaper reports that a woman told police in October that Benjamin Carter raped her in early 2008, and the ensuing investigation led to the arrest.

Judge Dan Hill set bail at $100,000 and Carter remained in jail on Christmas. His next court date is a pre-trial conference Dec. 30.
