BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. (AP) — Olympic freeskiing hopeful Torin Yater-Wallace sustained a chest injury during practice for the Dew Tour finals Saturday and pulled out of the contest.

The 18-year-old from Aspen did not lose consciousness. He was taken to a hospital to be evaluated.

Yater-Wallace, who has two X Games silver medals, is considered a medal contender for halfpipe skiing, which makes its Olympic debut in Sochi. The Dew Tour is the first qualifying event for the U.S. Olympic team.

Yater-Wallace spent nearly a week in the hospital earlier this month with a collapsed lung — an injury he couldn’t trace to a specific moment during his training. He was back on the halfpipe Friday and finished first in qualifying.
