I continue to read in the newspapers and hear on newscasts that our nation’s most important environmental goal is to close the last coal-fired facility in our country, as we move toward alternative and renewable energy sources. Yet, we continue to extract, transport and sell our coal overseas at an alarming and increasing rate, to countries that are experiencing extremely dangerous record high and rising pollution levels of their air, land and water as a result of burning these fuels. Do we really need to continue contributing to that? What in the world are we thinking? Are we thinking that their water is separate from our water, their air separate from ours? That the rest of us on this precious planet won’t be affected by that devastating pollution?
Let’s stay smart and prevail in our continued efforts to stop these coal trains, and end this nonsense.
