No. 24 Gonzaga’s balance crushes Fairfield 82-42

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Haiden Palmer led four starters in double figures with 18 points as No. 24 Gonzaga coasted to an 82-42 win over Fairfield Monday night.

The Bulldogs (5-1) were ahead 27-21 whey went on a 15-0 run to close the first half to double up the Stags (3-3) 42-21 and were never threatened. Gonzaga continued the run by scoring the first eight points of the second half.

Sunny Greinacher scored 14 points, Lindsay Sherbert had 13 and Keani Albanez 11. The Bulldogs shot 52.3 percent, 56 from 3’s (9-16) and forced Fairfield in 22 turnovers, good for 30 points. GU point guard Jazmine Redmon missed her three shots but had 6 assists and 5 steals. The Zags had just six turnovers.

Fairfield was led by Katie Cizynski with 17 points. After a hot start, the Stags cooled off, shooting 40.5. They were also out-rebounded 34-29 after matching Gonzaga early.
