NEWARK, Del. (AP) — Jarvis Threatt set a Delaware freshman scoring record with 30 points and the Blue Hens overcame a 15-point first-half deficit to outlast Georgia State 77-74 in double overtime Saturday.
The Panthers took a 14-0 lead as Delaware missed its first 14 shots. The Blue Hens (8-10, 4-4 Colonial Athletic Association) chipped away, making eight of their season-high 12 3-pointers, with Threatt hitting four straight to close out the half down 33-31.
Delaware pulled ahead at 34-33, then didn’t lead again until 60-59 with 1:02 left in regulation. Georgia State’s Eric Buckner made 1 of 2 free throws with 1 second remaining to force overtime.
The Blue Hens’ Jamelle Hagins knotted the first OT at 66, then Delaware opened the second on a 5-0 run and held on.
Buckner had 19 points and 15 rebounds and Brandon McGee added 12 points and 10 boards to lead Georgia State (13-6, 5-3).
