INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Labor unions fighting an uphill battle against a right-to-work measure in the Indiana Legislature see a last-ditch opportunity to fight back: the Super Bowl.

Union activists are debating whether to stage demonstrations and job actions at the game next month to draw national attention to their cause. They have discussed having truckers clog downtown streets and directing stagehands not to cross picket lines at the entertainment venues near the stadium. Labor leaders are debating whether the tactics would help them or just cause public resentment.

City officials say they are confident the Feb. 5 game will not be disrupted. They said public safety workers will deal with protesters or other problems.

Republican leaders want to pass the anti-union legislation soon, but House Democrats have stalled work on the measure.
